    General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), spent a busy day in Beijing as he met China's state and military leaders.  General Tariq Majid, who is here on an official visit for security talks, met today Mr. Xi Jinping, Vice President of China; General Liang Guanglie, State Councillor and Defence Minister; and Mr. Yang Jiechi, Foreign Minister.

    The Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Tilla field firing ranges near Jhelum today to witness annual field firing and battle inoculation maneuvers conducted in near real operational environment. A large number of troops participated in the exercise.

    First group of Pakistan Army Troops comprising 180 men left for Sudan as part of the rotation to UN Mission in Sudan last night. They were seen off at the Airport by Brigadier Humayun Khan. It may be mentioned here that Pakistani Troops, joined the UN Mission in Sudan in October 2005 and are deployed in Ed-Damazine and Vau areas.

He gave these remarks while addressing the participants of Armed Forces War Course, National Defence Course and Allied Officers War Course at National Defence University here at Islamabad this morning.
